In spite of the horrible weather (cold, windy and wet) I decided to go with a group of students that played a match of Gaelic Football in Tralee...
Strange sport, a mixture between soccer (our football) and rugby... It is considered the Irish National Sport...
Since 2015, thanks to Erasmus+ Projects, I'm having the opportunity to visit different schools in Europe. I summarize here these experiences as a diary of my visits...

Friday 24th - Killorglin CC
But before school a short visit to the Gap of Dunloe that is in the way...
Amazing landscape! It has to be fantastic in a sunny day!! Unfortunatly I had to enjoy it under the rain, anyway, was worth it to visit!
14:00h - Home Economics 1st Year
Interesting class!
There is something we don't have in Spain and that I have seen is popular in most other European countries, Iceland, Finland, Norway... We should have something similar...
They don't only cook or sew, but learn general things related with housing: how to use a washing machine, how to read some labels... Things that nobody teachs us and normally we learn ourselves... or not!

Monday 20th - Killorglin CC
10:00 - Meeting teachers in the Staff Room.
12:00 - 5th Year Spanish with Saoirse
Only 6 students in the classroom. They enjoyed my presentation although some of them were a bit shy to participate, specially in Spanish...
12:40 - 2nd Year ICT with Gavin
Working on WeVideo
Second Year students, 13 years old, were practicing with this application. Later, they will have to create a video with their own material, photos and records, to participate in a national competition...
That's an interesting alternative for Movie Maker!

From 13:20 to 14:00 they have a break for lunch. Some students go home but most remain at school and eat a sandwich they bring from home or they buy something at school. There is not a real cantine, just a woman cooking hot sandwiches and a common place to stay...
14:00 - 1st Year Spanish with Saoirse
More than 20 students this time. I do my presentation mostly in English because it is the first year they study Spanish and they only know a few words... They are very enthusiastic about it, they asked me a lot of questions...
14:40 - "College Awarness Week" - room 21
Very interesting talks from "old students" that are now at university or working in a company to promote and encourage students of 6th Year.

IRLAND - Proffesional Stay (MECD) - KILLORGLIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Thursday 17th November
Landing in Dublin at 13:30h, one hour late!! Take the car at Sixt Office, a red Toyota Yaris, and drive to Killarney. Only one stop in Adare for a coffe and a cake. I didn't want to drive in the dark, it was enought to drive on the left! The drive wasn't too bad, the roads were fine, the worst at the end because of tiredness and darkness! No problems with the left...
I arrived in Killarney around 18h, phone the owner of the appartment who appears in 5 minutes and accomodated. The appartmet was great and very well located in a quiet area in the town center! Out for a walk and some shopping and rest.
Friday 18th
9:30h - Wellcome at Killorglin Community College
Donal O'Reilly, Deputy Principal, was waiting for me and first we did a tour around the school and later I met the Principal, Con Moynihan and other teachers in the Staff Room. I agreed with Saoirse, the Spanish teacher to attend some of her classes and even show a presentation for her students. I also agreed with Gavin (ICT teacher) and Anthony (Graphics teacher) to attend some of their classes.
Already that Friday I stayed for a while with Donal in his Trantition Year class where they were working on a Padlet for an Erasmus+ KA2 Project. He also showed me the managment program they use at school: VSware, number 1 Irish administration platform.
Later, Anthony allowed me to attend a very interesting class of Graphics and Design where a few students were working on Solid Works. I found it quite difficult for students of that age, but they managed very well!
And I also could go for a short walk with Claire and Eva, and the Trantition Year Students!
A very much profitable morning!!
